Review — The Clover Chapel by Devney Perry

This could have been so much worse ! Let me explain, it's just that I hate this premise. I DNF a book with a similar theme a few years ago and realized that the Vegas wedding trope is not for me. That's the reason why I was a little apprehensive when I started The Clover Chapel.

I had a hard time with the  storyline because it wasn't realistic enough for me.  I can't help but cringe when I think of two strangers falling in love and getting married overnight. Emme's wealth and the page six references didn't help me connect with her.

Emme and Nick have a special love, they fell for each other hard and fast and their feelings were intense, so consuming that it survived nine years apart. I get the appeal of that kind of love stories but I prefer Jess and Gigi and their beautiful but simple love story. We all know a couple like them and I love how relatable their book was.

It didn't keep me from enjoying The Clover Chapel though because there's so much more to this book than the romance. Don't get me wrong Emmy and Nick were super sweet and they had great moments that gave me feels but Devney Perry has a way of making you really care for her characters, you want them to thrive and be happy and reach their goals beyond their love lives.

Emmeline is a teacher and Nick is the town's fire chief  and I really liked reading about their job. Emmeline transitioned from being a New York socialite to her dream job, she's dedicated,  a great teacher and it was super interesting to read. Just like Gigi's job as a nurse in the first book it's relevant to the story and I loved that. There's a particular storyline with a little boy, Mason, that she suspected was neglected and abused by his aunt, it wasn't the main story but as usual with Perry's books I ended up caring for the secondary characters as much as the main ones.

I love Prescott, I love reading about this town and its people, it warms my heart and always leave me happy.   I already started book 3 because I'm on this crazy marathon and it's like clicking next episode on neflix, it's that addicting!
